Going short doesn’t always have to feel informal. If you’re a bride who loves shoes and accessories, a short wedding dress may be the style for you! Just recently, we were completely inspired by our spread in the Mag Rouge online magazine featuring our Bella dress. If this non-traditional look is for you, consider Jenny Yoo’s Bella, Libby, and Romy dresses. For a great DIY tip on making the perfect wedding shoes to compliment your short dress, check out a tutorial by the Green Wedding Shoes blog featuring an easy step by step guide to personalize your shoes! Just pick up a great (and affordable!) pair of Nina Shoes and you’re all set!

Check out the tutorial here!

Remember our beautiful Mag Rouge spread from a few weeks ago featuring our short Bella bridal dress?  How could you forget!  The photography was so stunning that we almost missed the second feature in the online mag!  Here is a spread from a real wedding where one of the bridesmaids was wearing our Aidan dress tied to perfection.  And for more pictures of the Bella spread, take a look here!

Bridal Bootcamp!

Image

On June 18, 2012, Jenny Yoo Collection held an event at our New York City location hosted by The Wedding Salon. The event, known as “Bridal Bootcamp,” featured vendors such as Jenny Yoo Collection, 45 Riots, Neuman’s Catering, Mirror Mirror Designs, JG Black Book of Travel, Michelle Jonnè Photography, and Louie Purple made to measure suiting. Each vendor spoke on a panel to a group of brides-to-be offering advice and ending the session with a Q&A. Here’s a list of some helpful recommendations from our Bridal Bootcamp’s vendors!

Question: What tips do you have for the bride-to-be?

Answers from Vendors:

Jenny Yoo: When choosing your dress, whether bridal or bridesmaids, you should always feel comfortable and the best version of yourself!

Louis Purple: When looking for a tuxedo for a groom or groomsmen, consider the quality and longevity of the tux.

Michelle Jonnè Photography: Not everyone is a photographer, choose your photographer carefully and remember that quality is important for your special day.

45 Riots: Go check out the band you want when they are performing at another venue before choosing them.

Neuman’s Catering: Go for a tasting before you commit to a catering company and ask your friends for recommendations!

Mirror Mirror Designs: Let your invitations and save the dates reflect the vision of the wedding you have in mind.

JG Black Book of Travel: Work with a travel agent to plan your destination wedding or honeymoon and inquire about special packages.

A Formal Affair

Going formal doesn’t always mean you have to go long.  With the right fabric, hair, and accessories you can still have the perfect black tie wedding without the stress of finding a long gown for your bridesmaids.  A perfect solution to having the perfect formal wedding is our metallic hammered satin! It has just enough shine and texture to make it formal, and a little added fun to make it functional to wear again for all your girls!  The Kate and Anya are simple with a bit of a twist, incorporating subtle asymmetrical pleating and an inset waistband to flatter the waistline; the two options compliment any body type.  Pair with some statement jewelry and a sleek hairstyle and you’re ready for an evening to remember!

Also, for our lovely brides, (we didn’t forget about you!) if you are still looking for the ideal dress for your formal affair, take a look at our Aurora gown!  It has similar details as our Kate and Anya, with subtle asymmetrical detailing and a romantic overlay of organza skimming the top layer of the gown.  Take a look for yourself, and see this beautiful Jenny Yoo filled wedding showcasing all three dresses!

Recently, Ellen DeGeneres and Michelle Obama had the guts to share their high school prom photos with the world.  We thought what the heck, we might as well do it, too!  Nothing can be more embarrassing than Ellen’s tablecloth dress and Michelle’s scandalous Angelina Jolie style slit.  Right?  Right!?

Here are the Jenny Yoo Gals in all of our high school glory, tulle, and lipstick.  If we were asked to the Prom today, things would be different.  For one, we would politely decline.  (If your age doesn’t end in “teen,” you better just be chaperoning).  Two, we would wear something a bit more figure flattering.

Now, we hope you had a very good chuckle at our expense!  Maybe you even had the opportunity to reminisce about your very own “good ole days.”    Last but absolutely not least, we want to leave you with two final photos.  The first is of our Operations Manager, Elise Gainer.  She looks like a true flower child and we love it!

And now for the grand finale!  Drum roll please…

JENNY YOO!!!

Jenny Yoo had a bride-filled Saturday this past weekend!  The Nordstrom Wedding Suite at the King of Prussia hosted a Jenny Yoo Collection Trunkshow.  Being that PA is Jenny Yoo’s childhood home, she paid a visit to the trunkshow (and to her mother as an added bonus for a very happy mother’s day)!

Some words from Jenny Yoo herself!  “This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending our Jenny Yoo Collection trunkshow at Nordstrom’s King of Prussia.  It was so much fun to meet all the wonderful brides and their family/friends and working with the entire sales team at Nordstrom.   I loved hearing about all the wonderful and unique direction of each bride’s wedding and styling them to fit their vision.  Below are some images of Nordstrom’s gorgeous Wedding Suite and few of many wonderful brides I’ve worked with this past weekend.”

A BIG “Happy One Year Anniversary” to Kate and William just this past week.  Oh it seems like yesterday when we were glued to our tellies, watching Kate gracefully walk the aisle.  No one can forget her Chantilly laced bodice that successfully combined traditionalism and modernism just perfectly.

Well, Jenny Yoo is pleased to announce some additions to her bridal collection that do just this.  Tradition + Modern + Jenny Yoo = Perfection.

Some of our past inspiration shoots…

Recently the Jenny Yoo team participated in an event at the Haymount House, a Southern colonial-style mansion atop 4 acres of gorgeous landscape and views of the Hudson River.  It is the kind of venue that instantly makes your heart skip a beat.  It is the kind of venue that makes you dig your heels into the grass when it’s time to leave.   It is the kind of venue that inspires you to have a wedding photo-shoot full of quirky romance and elegance.  Take a look for yourself.

Happy Friday!

Just wanted to share a sweet pic to celebrate this very happy and very sunny Friday the 13th!  Yes, that is Jenny Yoo in her very own design!  And the bride is one of our NYC bridal consultants, Maggie, playing dress up for a recent bridal event.  She looks gushingly gorgeous in our favorite bridal dress Georgeanne. Spread the love this Friday the 13th!  Who said it has to be unlucky!
